RHUGT Roaring 20th Episode 1: Someone Tell Vicki It's 2026 | Daily Drama Watch

RHUGT Roaring 20th Episode 1: Someone Tell Vicki It's 2026.

Twenty years of Real Housewives. One premiere. NeNe is back for five minutes. Vicki brought life insurance swag. And Tamra Judge ruined someone else's party. Again. Some things never change. Most things should.

Twenty years. That is how long Bravo has been in the business of filming women scream at each other over dinner tables, ruin each other's vacations, and make the rest of us feel significantly better about our own friend groups. To celebrate this milestone they assembled seven allegedly iconic Housewives and sent them on a cross-country road trip through franchise history — Orange County, Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Miami, New York, and a finale at Dorinda's Bluestone Manor, because of course it ends at Dorinda's house.

On paper: iconic. In practice: a prophecy of doom delivered via COTO Insurance goody bag. Let me walk you through it.

BEFORE THE TRIP EVEN STARTS — NeNe Is Back. For Five Minutes. Enjoy It.

The episode opens with the moment every longtime Bravo fan has been waiting for: NeNe Leakes returning to the Housewives universe for the first time since leaving RHOA in 2020. She shows up at Porsha Williams' house to help her pack. NeNe Leakes is back. Or at least, someone who goes by NeNe Leakes is back. She talks like NeNe, same energy — they say it's NeNe so we chose to believe it. Their old chemistry is still very much intact.

It's a two-minute scene. Then the actual trip begins, and we lose some of that energy fast.

FIRST STOP: ORANGE COUNTY — Vicki Brought Goody Bags. They Were Life Insurance. This Is Not A Metaphor.

Vicki Gunvalson's opening move on a cross-country anniversary celebration of the greatest franchise in reality television history? She greeted her castmates with COTO Insurance-branded goody bags and briefly reminded everyone that we are all going to die. That was her opening statement. It was not a good omen. Watching the rest of the episode unfold, it felt less like a reality show and more like a prophecy being fulfilled in real time.

The women board a yacht. Cardboard cutouts of their earliest Housewives selves are waiting. Nostalgia. Good memories.

And then Vicki — standing next to a cardboard cutout of herself — announces that Teresa has changed the most physically. Not as a casual observation. As a left hook dressed as a compliment. Teresa, composed and unbothered, said she only had the tip of her nose redone.

Just. The. Tip. Not a nose job. A tip job. There is apparently a difference and Teresa would like that acknowledged. Did they redo everything else without your knowledge, Teresa? Asking for a friend who is budgeting.

Then Porsha taught everyone how to twerk. Four minutes of pure joy.

Vicki Gunvalson — who has publicly admitted to a nose job, a chin procedure, and two facelifts — chose that moment to comment on Teresa Giudice's face. While standing next to a cardboard cutout of her former self. The audacity alone deserves its own display case.

Teresa then opened up about one of the darkest chapters of her life — her 11 months of incarceration. She explained, quietly and without drama, that she signed a refinance her ex-husband told her to sign, that he used her credit, and that she never in a million years thought she would go to jail for it. It was a genuine, vulnerable moment. The kind that makes you remember that even bad life decisions and spectacularly stupid choices have real consequences.

And the cameras stayed on Teresa. Which was apparently one camera too many for Vicki.

Because before Teresa could even finish, Vicki was banging on the table. I never want to know any of this. I pay my taxes on time. Always. No penalties. No interest. No nothing. And then — unprompted, unrequested, unbelievable — she offered to give Teresa a financial lesson later in the week.

Teresa was describing federal incarceration. Vicki scheduled a seminar.

THE BUNCO PARTY — Gizelle Bryant Ignited Two Arguments And Walked Away Looking Refreshed.

Vicki hosts a redo of RHOC's iconic 80s-themed bunco party at The Quiet Woman. The cameras are on the arrivals — Heather Dubrow, Jo De La Rosa, Jeana Keough. Old friendships. Real callbacks. Heather brings a cake recreating her infamous Season 7 meltdown moment and it actually lands. The room is warm. This is briefly the show we were promised.

And then Vicki grabbed the microphone. Metaphorically. Actually. Both. And started talking about Slade Smiley. From fifteen years ago. FIFTEEN. Not a recent wound. Not a fresh grievance. A fifteen year old comment from a man nobody has thought about since the second Obama administration. Vicki thought about it. Vicki has been thinking about it every single day. Vicki brought him to a 20th anniversary party like that drunk annoying uncle who shows up to Christmas dinner with a grudge from 2009 and will not leave until everyone has heard about it, processed it, validated it, and agreed that yes, he was wronged, terribly wronged, and no, he has never recovered, and yes, we should all be very angry about it still.

The emotions. The insecurities. The speech. The extended speech. The speech that kept going well past the point where anyone had asked for it. Every camera that had been pointed at anyone else slowly, inevitably, re-centered on Vicki. Luann — either genuinely moved or simply calculating the fastest exit from this scene — spotted a framed photo of Slade on the wall and smashed it. The room cheered. Vicki got her moment. Again.

Then Tamra arrived.

And then Shannon. The face. The gestures. The entrance of a woman who made absolutely sure every head in that room turned before she sat down. Not subtle. Never subtle. Shannon Beador has entered the building and she will not be ignored. The cast turned. We turned. Mission accomplished.

Then Gizelle Bryant sat herself down between Shannon Beador and Tamra Judge and immediately asked, point blank, what exactly was going on between these two. No warmup. No small talk. Just: are you two okay, and if not, let's hear it right now. With that innocent look she has spent years perfecting. The one that says I am simply asking because I care. The one that has never once meant I am simply asking because I care. You have to love Gizelle for it. Genuinely. The woman has turned concerned friend into an art form.

Tamra and Shannon — who have spent the better part of two RHOC seasons imploding their friendship — immediately launched into it. Again. Because apparently once was not enough. Twice was not enough. The same argument, the same grievances, the same dynamic that has been the entire plot of Orange County for longer than anyone cares to admit. Tamra made clear she believes she's in a stable, happy place and that Shannon is not. Things escalated. Shannon stormed away from the table shouting "don't talk to me." The rest of the cast watched like women who had absolutely not signed up for this and were reconsidering every decision that led them to this moment.

And just when things were dying down and the room was finding its breath again — Gizelle was not done having fun. She pulled Tamra aside and revealed that Vicki had apparently questioned whether Tamra could truly be trusted. Tamra confronted Vicki. Vicki denied it. We all heard it. And then — mid-confrontation — Vicki started losing her 80s wig. Adjusting it. Fighting it. A full I Love Lucy moment apparently happening completely by accident. Sure, Vicki. Sure. Gizelle watched from across the room looking like she'd spent the afternoon at a spa.

THE VICKI SHOW — This Was Supposed To Be A Group Trip. Someone Forgot To Tell Vicki.

Here is the thing nobody wants to say out loud: this was supposed to be a group trip. Seven women from seven different franchises, dynamics we have literally never seen before on this show. What does Lisa Barlow say to Teresa Giudice in private? How does Gizelle operate when she's not on her home turf? What happens when Porsha and Luann are left unsupervised in the same city?

We don't know. Because Episode 1 was The Vicki Gunvalson Show. Her yacht. Her bunco party. Her OC guests. Her Slade drama. Her tax opinions. Her commentary on Teresa's face. Every scene looped back to Vicki. Every conversation ended up being about Vicki's world, Vicki's feelings, Vicki's history.

There is something deeply ironic about a 20th anniversary celebration of the entire Real Housewives franchise being hijacked by one city's ego. And it's not even a city that's relevant anymore.

The thing about Vicki specifically — it's not just that she dominated the episode. It's that she did it with the exact same moves she was pulling twenty years ago. The forced Woo Hoo that used to feel spontaneous and now feels like a ringtone nobody asked for. The COTO Insurance integration delivered with the subtlety of a foghorn. The performance of being fun that stopped being fun before most of this cast's children started school. The jokes that used to land and now just sit there on the floor waiting for a laugh track that stopped coming years ago.

Vicki Gunvalson has been doing Vicki Gunvalson for so long she has forgotten it was a bit. The audience hasn't forgotten. The 600,000 viewers still watching haven't forgotten. The other 400,000 who left certainly haven't forgotten — they just stopped showing up. Whoop it up, Vicki. Whoop it up.

✦ ✦ ✦

Next week Beverly Hills. Seven women. A new city. New dynamics. Everything we actually came for.

We would like to formally request — on behalf of viewers everywhere — that someone accidentally forgets Vicki at the bus stop.

✦ Ava's Verdict

Episode 1 of RHUGT Roaring 20th has real moments — NeNe's five minutes of pure chemistry with Porsha, the yacht nostalgia, Luann smashing Slade's photo, Teresa's quiet dignity in the face of an unsolicited accounting lecture. Those work. But Vicki's need to own every scene like it's still 2006, Tamra and Shannon relitigating RHOC at what was supposed to be a franchise-wide celebration, and the almost complete absence of the cross-franchise dynamics we actually tuned in for make this premiere a disappointment dressed up in 80s costumes.

Eight more episodes. Four more cities. NeNe in Atlanta is going to be must-watch television. We will stay on this road trip.

But if Vicki arrives at the next stop with another COTO Insurance goody bag we are not responsible for what happens next. We were warned by the actuarial tables. We should have listened. 🍷
